With Summer just a couple of months away, you’ll want to keep cool by using your air conditioner, but you’ll also want to save money on your energy bill. Don’t worry, Econo Air is here to help you do just that with these reliable, energy saving tips.
Use the microwave– Your microwave uses two-thirds less energy than your stove does, so use that instead when you can.
The dishwasher – Your dishwasher uses less water than if you were to wash your dishes by hand. Let your dishes air dry to save yourself even more energy. Run your dishwasher only when it is fully loaded, and turn off the dry cycle.
Keep the fridge full – Having a lot of food in your fridge prevents it from getting as warm when the door is open, so your fridge won’t have to work as hard to keep your food cold.
Turn up your thermostat – When home, keep your thermostat at 78 degrees. When away, keep it at 85 degrees or completely off. Utilizing any ceiling fans will allow you to keep the temperature higher because of the movement of the air in the room.
Manage your appliances– Do your laundry by using the warm or cold water setting for washing your clothes. Always use cold water to rinse your clothes. Line dry your clothing whenever you can. When you need to use the dryer, do full loads with the moisture-sensing setting, and clean the dryer’s lint trap after every use. Turn off appliances and lights whenever they aren’t in use. Unplug any electronic devices and chargers when they aren’t in use as well, as most new electronics use energy even when they are switched off.
Replace air conditioner filters– Dirty filters can restrict the airflow and cause the system to run longer, increasing energy usage. Replace your filters monthly for the best results.
Plug leaks– weather-strip, seal, and caulk any doors and windows with leaks, and install foam gaskets behind outlet covers.
Invest in a new air conditioner– If your old air conditioner is on its last legs, Econo Air can install you with a new air conditioning system at a reasonable price.
